Patna, Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has again made a controversial statement regarding Lord Ram.
He has made a strong demand to the Central and State Governments to stop sectarian incidents during or due to religious processions in different parts of the country. He tweeted on Sunday evening that the country should ban all religious processions.
The leader tweeted, “Now is the time to ban all religious processions in the country. The unity and integrity of the country seems to be at stake due to the religious processions. This should be stopped immediately.
It may be noted that on April 17, a sudden outbreak of violence broke out in the Jahangirpuri area of the capital Delhi. Some people started throwing stones at the Hanuman Jayanti procession, after which the atmosphere deteriorated. Several policemen were injured in the violence.
In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, on the occasion of Ram Navami, thugs hoisted a saffron flag at a mosque, causing a huge commotion. It is believed that Manjhi has made this demand to the government in the wake of these incidents. It is known that in the past, Manjhi had refused to accept Rama as God during a program organized on Ambedkar Jayanti.
He said, “I do not consider Ram to be God. He was the only character in the composition of Goswami Tulsidas and Valmiki. In such a situation I believe in them (Goswami Tulsidas and Valmiki), but not Ram. His statement was strongly opposed by BJP leaders
