Mumbai Police raided a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit at Nalasopara in Palghar district and recovered Rs. 700 kg of Mephedrone worth Rs 1,400 crore has been seized.
Five people have been arrested in this connection. An official gave this information on Thursday. The raid was conducted by the Anti-Drug Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch, the official said.
He said that this action has been taken based on specific information. An ANC team raided the premises and found that the banned drug ‘mephedrone’ was manufactured there.
Four accused have been arrested from Mumbai, while one person was nabbed in Nalasopara, the official said. He said that this is the biggest seizure of narcotics by the city police in recent times. ‘Mephedrone’ is also called ‘meow meow’ or MD. It is banned under the National Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
