Islamabad, Former Home Minister of Pakistan Sheikh Rasheed has been arrested by Islamabad Police. He was arrested from Murree Motorway yesterday. Along with Sheikh Rashid, his nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafiq has also been arrested. Regarding the arrest, Sheikh Rasheed claims that he was arrested from his house in Rawalpindi. Sheikh Rashid heads the Awami Muslim League and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and is close to former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Sheikh Rasheed held the post of Home Minister of Pakistan in Imran Khan’s government.
Recently, the police also arrested PTI leader and Imran Khan’s close associate Fawad Chaudhary. Sheikh Rashid has been arrested on the complaint of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Raja Inayat ur Rehman. The PPP leader lodged a complaint at the Abpara Police Station in Islamabad that Sheikh Rasheed had alleged that former President and PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari was conspiring to kill Imran Khan.
Sheikh Rasheed said that Asif Zardari has earned a lot of money through corruption and this money is used to fund terrorist organizations. Zardari has conspired to kill Imran Khan by giving money to a terrorist organization. PPP objected to this statement of Sheikh Rashid. Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan has reacted strongly to Sheikh Rashid’s arrest and has threatened to take to the streets. Imran Khan tweeted that he opposes Sheikh Rashid’s arrest. Never in history has there been such a partisan caretaker government.
