Chandigarh, Taking a strong note of looting in the name of books and funds by private schools in the state of Punjab, Punjab School Education Minister Harjat Singh Bains has constituted the Education Minister’s Task Force to stop it.
An Education Minister Task Force has been constituted in each district of the state which includes three principals from that district. The task force will investigate the complaint received by the Education Minister and submit its report to the regulatory authority.
Informing about this decision, School Education Minister Harjeet Singh Bains said that for the past several days, complaints have been received from the parents of private schools about looting of books/copies in the name of different funds.

In which they were asked to follow the instructions regarding books/copies and fees/funds issued by the school regulatory authority.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also received complaints about looting by schools. Which the Chief Minister has taken seriously and directed that looting by private schools by selling books from expensive publishers will not be tolerated. Bains said he was surprised to learn that private schools are selling books for one class for Rs 7,000, while a first class maths book is only Rs 600.
The school education minister instructed the owners and management of private schools to teach only NCERT in schools. Punjab government in action regarding compensation of rain-damaged crops, orders to all MLAs , major cities like Jalandhar and Amritsar have to list 20 shops outside each where school students can buy books.
On the occasion, he also released an email address, EM Office Punjab Gmail.com, through which students and parents can directly complain to the Education Minister about looting by private schools.
He directed all the private school administrators to fill and submit the information related to the increase in school infrastructure, fees/funds made by the school as per rules by April 30, 2023. He also said that the information given about random checking by private schools will be investigated.HS1MS
