NEW DELHI: The Indian Army on Thursday (April 20) released the names of five soldiers killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The martyred jawans have been identified as Havildar Mandeep Singh, Lance Naik Debashish Baswal, Lance Naik Kulwant Singh, Sepoy Harkishan Singh and Sepoy Sevak Singh of the Army’s National Rifles Unit. Dgainch will also investigate double tail attacks. A team of two has reached the spot.
The Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked People’s Anti-Fascist Front has claimed responsibility for the attack. Taking advantage of heavy rain and low visibility, unidentified militants attacked a truck carrying rations and fuel with grenades, a statement issued by the army said.
Due to which the truck caught fire, there has been a reduction in terrorist attacks after the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the terrorists could not be stopped completely. In the last two years, there have been 4 major terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. On October 11, 2021, five soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred in a terrorist attack in Surang Kot taluka of Poonch district. On 16 October 2021, 4 jawans were martyred in a terrorist attack in Poonch district.
On August 11, 2022, a terrorist attack on an army camp in Rajouri’s Pargal area claimed the lives of 5 soldiers, while the two attackers, the Fidayeen who carried out the attack, were killed by security forces. At the same time, on January 1, 2023, in a terrorist attack in Rajouri’s Dangri, 7 people from the Hindu community were killed by terrorists.
According to a statement issued by the Indian Army, a truck carrying soldiers of the National Rifles Unit deployed for anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir was passing through the Rajouri sector.
Meanwhile, terrorists opened fire and attacked with grenades on the highway between Bhimbar Gali and Poonch. Five jawans were martyred in this attack. The terrorists have not been identified yet. It is suspected that 4 terrorists are involved in this terror attack.
