THE ARCHBISHOP of Canterbury has revealed he will not block the government’s flagship Rwanda plan.
Justin Welby admits his fight in the House of Lords against the deportation scheme is at an end – after saying the policy was “damaging” to the UK.

He has accepted the Commons is the elected body and wouldn’t stand in the way if the Commons overturns earlier changes made by Peers.
He told LBC: “In the end, on the Rwanda Bill, the Lords will say, OK, we’ve made our case, you don’t accept it and that’s the end of it.”
The legislation will be voted on by MPs when Parliament returns in mid-April and it is expected to become law by the end of next month.
The knock-on effect of the delay means that the first deportation flight to Africa may not take off until June.
But the Archbishop said he would still have grave concerns about the policy even if the asylum seekers were being deported to Sweden.
He said: “My arguments with Rwanda have got nothing to do with it being Rwanda. If it was Sweden, I’d have the same problem.”
