New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon leave for his first international visit to Italy after taking oath for the third time on June 9. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni sent an invitation to participate in the Y7 summit, which PM Modi has accepted. The G7 Summit will be held in Puglia, Italy from June 13 to 15.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that Prime Minister Modi spoke to Italian Prime Minister Meloni on Thursday and thanked him for inviting him to the Y7 summit in Puglia, Italy. Meanwhile, there will be a meeting between PM Modi and Georgia Melo.
This year Italy is chairing the U7.
The summit is likely to focus on key issues such as the global economic outlook, climate change and the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Hamas conflict. The 7 countries include America, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. The European Union is hosting the debate. During his visit, PM Modi will meet US President Joe Biden and other 77 leaders.
Apart from the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Modi has also been formally invited to the Ukraine Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland from June 15 to 16.
However, it is not yet decided whether PM Modi will participate in this program or not. Russia has not been invited to this conference. In his congratulatory message to PM Modi after his election victory, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested him to attend the peace summit.
