Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said on the occasion of the inauguration of the International Kite Festival-2025 that Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi has made this festival of Uttarayan known as 'International Kite Festival' worldwide.
Not only this, this festival of kites has been given modern dimensions and at the same time has also connected this festival with tourism. Thus, this kite festival has become a global identity of Gujarat, he added.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel launched the International Kite Festival-2025 by flying the tricolor balloon in the sky from Ahmedabad.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel said that every year the ambassadors of the country and the world come to Gujarat to see this kite festival. This year, ambassadors of 11 countries have come to Gujarat.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel further said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's Vocal for Vocal campaign has gained a lot of momentum from the tourists coming to the Kite Festival. Food stall and craft stall holders earn lakhs of rupees during this festival. Not only that, more than five and a half lakh people joined the International Kite Festival last year.
Speaking about the development of tourism in Gujarat and the kite industry of Gujarat due to the International Kite Festival, the Chief Minister said that due to the love of kites of Gujaratis, Gujarat has been recognized as the state that produces the most kites in the world. Ahmedabad, Nadiad, Khambhat and Surat have become hubs of kite manufacturing.
Not only that, today Gujarat has 65 percent share in the kite market of the country. Every year kites are exported from Gujarat to countries like USA, UK, Canada, he further added.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel said that the name of the Prime Minister is to make India a development nation in the year 2047. To realize this name, Gujarat's development kite will fly high in the development world by aligning with the environment and nature, he added.
Talking about the Uttarayan festival on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Uttarayan festival is a festival of charity and religion and worship of Surya Narayan. Not only this, this festival, celebrated with the tradition of charity, also includes awareness towards the environment. Chief Minister Shri appealed to every citizen of the state that they should celebrate this festival safely and be very careful in flying kites by showing condolences for the safety of life.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also wished everyone on Uthrayan and the festival of Makar Sankranti.
While delivering the welcome speech at the International Kite Festival, Tourism Minister Shri Molubhai Bera said that Uttarayan is an opportunity to worship the sun. Not only this, this festival also gives the message of nature and progress. Our country is a country of festivals and many festivals are celebrated in India. He further added that this kite festival organized every year in the state of Gujarat not only inspires everyone to fly in the direction of development but also the center of economic support for poor families.
Giving detailed information about the International Kite Festival-2025, the Tourism Minister said that this year, the 'International Kite Festival-2025' has been organized by the Gujarat Tourism Corporation from January 11 to January 14. Apart from this, 'International Kite Festival – 2025' has been organized on January 12, 2025 at Statue of Unity (Ekta Nagar), Rajkot and Vadodara and also on January 13 at Surat, Shivrajpur, Dhordo.
He further said that 143 kite flyers from 47 countries and 52 kite flyers from other 11 states of India are participating in the International Kite Festival this year. Apart from this, as many as 417 kite flyers from 11 cities of Gujarat state are also participating. In which 153 international kite flyers from 55 countries, 68 national kite flyers from 12 states, 865 kite flyers from 23 cities of Gujarat have participated.
Aditya Stuti Vandana was presented by Rishi Kumar on this occasion. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries greeted the parade of kite flyers from various countries of the world and various states of India. Apart from this, a cultural program was also organized for Uttarayan Parva.
