New Delhi, After Cameron Green’s half-century and Tilak Verma’s storming batting, Mumbai Indians registered their third victory in the 2023 season of the IPL T20 cricket tournament with the help of a brilliant performance by the bowlers. In the match played in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Mumbai Indians gave a great performance and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs.
After receiving the invitation to bat first, Mumbai Indians registered 192 runs for five wickets in 20 overs with the help of Green’s 64 and Tilak Verma’s quick 37 runs. In response, the Hyderabad team was all out for 178 runs in 19.5 overs. At one point it looked like Hyderabad would win but later the Mumbai bowlers struck back. In the last over, Hyderabad needed 20 runs to win.
Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma trusted debutant Arjun Tendulkar for the final over. Arjun also did not let him down and led the team to victory. Arjun got the win by dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar and also took his first wicket in the IPL.
Arjun Tendulkar took one wicket by conceding 18 runs in 2.5 overs in the match. Against a tough target of 193 runs, Hyderabad got off to a poor start. Opener Harry Brook scored nine runs and Rahul Tripathi scored seven runs and joined the pavilion. The team lost two wickets on the score of 25 runs. Then opener Mayank Agarwal and captain Aidan Markram’s Jadi tried to fight back. But Markram got out after scoring 22 runs in 17 balls.
Even before the team came out of this shock, Abhishek Sharma also scored a run and the pavilion gathered. Mayank Agarwal tried to retain one end but was not successful. He scored 48 runs in 41 balls. While Henrik Klassen contributed 36 runs. The team then lost wickets at regular intervals.
Due to which the team was few runs away from the target. Jason Behndorff, Riley Meredith and Piyush Chawla took two wickets each for Mumbai. While Arjun Tendulkar and Cameron Green got one success each. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and invited Mumbai to bat first.
Mumbai had a good start. Captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan added 41 runs in 4.4 overs. As such, both the batsmen were dismissed after being set. Rohit scored 28 runs in 18 balls with the help of six fours. While Ishan Kishan got out after scoring 38 runs in 31 balls with the help of two sixes and three fours.
