The tournament was expected to be held in the UAE after this, but in the meantime, a shocking news has come to light. According to a report by cricket website Cricbuzz, the Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Cricket Boards are refusing to play the Asia Cup in the UAE.
Both the cricket boards say that if the Asia Cup is held in the UAE, their players will not play in the tournament. According to reports, PCB wants to host the 2023 Asia Cup in Pakistan and UAE after India refused to go to Pakistan.
But due to the heat of September, Bangladesh Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket did not agree to play matches in UAE. In such a situation, it is now being expressed that this tournament will be held in Sri Lanka. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board says that if they are not the hosts of the Asia Cup, they will not participate in the tournament. Sri Lanka Cricket and Bangladesh Cricket Board have cited the heat of September for playing the Asia Cup in the UAE.
As such, it is being said that after this the PCB has argued that some tournaments have been organized there in September. PCB chief Najam Sethi, who visited Dubai in the past few days, said in his meeting with BCB and SLC officials that the 50-over Asia Cup was held from September 15 to 28 in 2018, for which BCCI was the designated host. He also said that the Asia Cup was held there from August 27 to September 11 in the 20-20 format. According to the report, the PCB is pushing for a Pakistan-UAE hybrid model, failing which it will be out of the tournament.
