IT’S a kitchen staple you’ve probably used hundreds of times, but you’ve probably been using it totally wrong.
One foodie shared a video on social media to show how it should really be used for the best results, and it’s blowing people’s minds.
If you’ve ever struggled to get your baking paper to fit your dish, this might be why[/caption]
The wet baking paper is much easier to use, she claims[/caption]
Brianna shared the simple trick on TikTok and it’s amazed fellow foodies[/caption]
Posting on TikTok, Brianna Joyce held up a piece of baking paper, which is sometimes called parchment paper too, and said: “You’re not listening to the parchment paper.”
She then tried to get the paper to sit neatly in a baking try, but it kept popping back out.
Well, apparently this is where people go wrong.
The paper should be damp before using it, and it will fit in your baking trays and cake tins easily.
“Now it will do it’s job,” she said, showing how it lined her loaf tin perfectly.
The trick is good to know if you’re not the best at tearing off the right size sheet of baking paper either.
Gerhard Jenne, owner of the London-based custom cake shop Konditor advised The Guardian to tear off a piece that’s big enough to fit whatever pot or pan you’re using.
Then scrunch the sheet under some running water and wring it out so it’s a bit like a damp cloth and shove it lay it over the pan – you can even fold the corners in so they won’t burn like usual.
Other foodies were stunned by the method too, many of them took to the comment section of Brianna’s video to share their amazement.
“Every day this app teaches me something,” one commented.
A second wrote: “Whaaaaat I’ve been doing this wrong the whole time?”
“All this time I’ve just been pouring things in there because it’ll eventually flatten, ignoring the paper,” another said.
And another wailed: “My whole life is a lie, this make so much sense.”
But not every one was convinced you need to damped the paper to use it.
“I just crunch it up and put it in the pan, it works the same,” one said.
Another agreed: “You don’t need to water board it, just crumble it then it will lay how you want.”
And someone else pointed out that they use a drop of water to stick the paper to their pans.
“Just sprinkle a little bit of water on the bottom of the pan it will stop it from moving,” they wrote.
This isn’t the only food trick people have only just realised though, recently food lovers were stunned by a microwaving trick that ensures your food won’t dry out.
Katie Lokas, known as @lady.lolas on TikTok, shared the simple trick and it’s easier than you probably think.
Posting on her channel, she suggests that you should place a glass of water in the microwave alongside your food.
According to experts, the water will absorb excess microwave radiation and keep your food from overcooking.
It will also release steam, which will also keep your food from drying out.
Katie captioned the post: “It’s a simple as that, no more dry leftovers.”
