Union Home and Cooperatives Minister Shri Amitbhai Shah today inaugurated the state's largest Waste to Energy Plant as another gift towards making Ahmedabad clean ahead of New Year.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Health Minister Shri Rishikesh Patel and Minister of State for Cooperation and Rural Industries Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma were present on the occasion of launching the waste to energy plant prepared on PPP basis at Pipalaj, Ahmedabad.
The Union Home Minister visited the plant after unveiling the plaque. Where he cut the ribbon, pressed a button and activated the plant. After that Mr. Amitbhai Shah got detailed information about its various departments and functioning. On this occasion, dignitaries including Chief Minister also joined him.
Thousands of metric tons of waste from the city is dumped at Pirana by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation every day. For the disposal of this waste, the municipality has now taken a step forward. Commissioned on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis, the plant will clean the city and generate electricity, contributing towards saving the environment.
It may be mentioned here that this waste to energy plant, which has been started on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis at Pipalj in Ahmedabad in collaboration with Jindal Urban Waste Management Limited, will generate 15 mega watts of electricity by disposing of 1,000 metric tonnes of waste on a daily basis.
The plant will generate 65 TPH of steam by incinerating municipal solid waste in a boiler using RDF Bayes Martin reverse grate firing technology. This steam will generate 15 megawatts per hour of electricity through turbines, which will be fed into the power grid. This plant is about Rs. It has been built at a cost of 375 crores.
On the occasion of today's launch of Waste to Energy Plant, Ahmedabad City Mayor Ms. Pratibhaben Jain, Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Naraharibhai Amin, Lok Sabha MP Mr. Dineshbhai Makwana, MLAs of Ahmedabad, Deputy Mayor Mr. Jatinbhai Patel, Standing Committee Chairman Mr. Dewangbhai Dani, Mun. Commissioner Shri M. Thennarsan, Mun. A large number of employees including office-bearers of the Corporation, officers-officers of Jindal Urban Waste Management Limited were present.
